The summer dress!

So I know I said I was going to post some antique goodies, but it's been so hot lately, I just had to post these summer dresses from the 70s on my Etsy store. This 9" by 12" great embroidered owl picture can also a be cut out and sewn onto something as a patch.

rabbits rabbits rabbits

I found some really beautiful things today! I only had time to take a couple snap shots of some antique cuties when I got home, but there will be more up in a day or two in my Etsy store. I'm not sure if I'm going to sell the bunny community picture, I think it may just be a bit too great to let go of! I have a few more beautiful little cocktail dresses, hats and purses from the 50s to post on Etsy. They WILL be up soon and I'll let you know when they are.

This little country rabbit 11" by 10" pillow caught my eye and stole my heart! One side has a little barefoot gardener rabbit and the other side has a little fishing rabbit. I wanted to keep this one and cut out the rabbits to patch them onto a dress, but I couldn't bring myself to destroy someone's cute little creation. This item will be up at my Etsy store very soon.

These are a few of my favorite things...

The little guys!

In an age of mass produced everything, conformed individuals, and unoriginal style, people find comfort in simplicity, now more so than ever. It is sad that instead of being a potter, one must work for a factory that mass produces bowls and cups, not a single one with unique character whatsoever. I find that, now more than ever, people have the need to express themselves in order to stand out amongst our cloned society.

Supporting small businesses helps fight mass production and brings back a little romance into our every day routines. Buying vintage is simple and good! Your item will be unique and have mystery about it, instead of coming from a factory along with millions of others just like it.

Thank you for listening. I won't only talk about vintage clothes. Next I will teach you how to make your own delicious kombucha tea!!

Sparklebird In A Shell

Sparklebird's Great Adventure

What will I show you? What will I talk about?

The majority of my posts will recognize other people's creations, their perfected forms of expression, their own unique styles. Recycled fashion is so beautiful to me. The way people coordinate colors, integrate patterns, make extreme explosions out of nothings. I bring to you old, forgotten things. I will hunt, I will dig for unique, flawless items which will take you back to before you were born, like fine wine.

I bring before you the class of the 40 and 50s and I will also focus on the funk, on the electric ridiculousness stemmed from the 80s. I particularly enjoy the psychedelia of the 60s and 70s. It's all good and it's all you.

Here are a few favorite photographed finds...

You'll find some of these items at my little Etsy store. Have fun and thanks for looking.
